What will we do?

The Journey
On Sunday, February 6th 2011 we leave from Utrecht for a cycling trip to Nepal. Because of the political circumstances in the surrounding regions of Nepal, we will have to take a large detour; this means we will have to cover a distance of more than 15,000 kilometers. The time we intend to spend cycling is little over six months. Probably this is too little time to actually reach Nepal, but unfortunately we are not flexible in our time since we wish to continue our studies after the journey. The goal is then to cycle as far as possible, and take a plane back to the Netherlands somewhere in August.

Our Philosophy
The basic idea of our trip is a silent protest against the way Western Man travels. With this we mean the negligence with which most people undergo culture shocks. The bicycle seems to us the ideal means to see man and his environment change every kilometer, so one can develop a true understanding for the world we all live in. This little bit of awareness will let us reflect more on the less fortunate around us. We would like to link these ideas to a charity; we are still negotiating this.

The Website
On this website one should find everything about us, our journey, and the sponsors. Please have a look, and leave a suggestion if you come across anything that can be improved.

The Departure
We expect a spectacular departure from the Domplein in Utrecht. This will take place on Sunday, February 6th, 2011. The time of departure will be announced due in 2011. We sincerely hope you will come to see us off, and take as many people as possible with you!
